Piercing

Piercing questions, answered

Everything you might want to know before your appointment. If your question is not here, please get in touch and I will be happy to help.

Is piercing safe with you?

Yes. As a qualified clinician, I carry out every piercing to medical-grade standards, using sterile, single-use equipment and quality jewellery, in a clean, professional studio. Your safety and comfort are always my priority.

Does it hurt?

Most people find piercing quick and far more comfortable than they expect. Any sharpness lasts only a moment. I will talk you through everything and make sure you feel relaxed and looked after throughout.

How long does a piercing take to heal?

Healing times vary by placement. As a general guide, earlobes take around 6 to 8 weeks, while cartilage and other placements can take several months. I will give you a clear idea for your specific piercing on the day.

What aftercare do I need to follow?

I will give you full aftercare advice at your appointment. In short, keep the area clean, avoid touching or twisting the jewellery, and follow the guidance I provide. Good aftercare makes all the difference to healing.

Do you pierce children, and is there an age limit?

Yes, I offer a range of piercings to younger clients, always with the consent and presence of a parent or guardian, who will need to bring identification. My age policy is:

  • Earlobes from 5 years
  • Cartilage and nose from 13 years
  • Tongue from 16 years
  • Nipples from 18 years only

All piercings for under-18s require a parent or guardian to give consent and to be present at the appointment. If you are unsure what is suitable, please get in touch and I will be happy to help.

Can I bring my own jewellery?

For your first piercing, I use quality jewellery suited to safe healing. Once your piercing is fully healed, you are welcome to change to jewellery of your choice.

When can I change my jewellery?

Only once your piercing is fully healed. Changing too early can disrupt healing. If you are unsure, I am always happy to advise or help you change it.
